Notes:

Several steps are required to prepare the work area for the asbestos work to commence. The first step is to construct a containment unit within the work area. For removal of category 1 non-friable floor tile and mastic, this is accomplished by installing 2 layers of 4-mil polyethylene sheeting. Critical Barriers are installed over windows, doors, air vents and any other penetration to avoid air infiltration with the exception of make up air provisions and a means of entry and exit from the containment area. The walls are covered with 2 layers of 6 mil true thickness polyethylene sheeting that extends from the floor-wall joint to the ceiling-wall joint. For wall systems that are covered with an impervious coating (such as paint), the installation of splash guards is approved as an acceptable practice. The splashguards consist of 2 layers of 6-mil sheeting extending from the wall-floor joint to the minimum height of 6 feet above the finished floor and secured to the wall.
