As the existing roofing materials are being removed, the roofing debris is carefully removed from the roof and disposed into dump trucks.
The contractor has to dispose the debris to a certified landfill.
Please note from this slide that when a roofing project is started on a campus, the roofing contractor needs a staging area large enough to place the roofing equipment as well as the roofing materials plus provide a working area.
The roofing contractor is required to provide a fence around the staging area. Sometimes the staging area is located in parking lots or sometimes in an area located on the campus grounds.
The fenced staging area is necessary for work safety as well as to maintain a safe campus environment.
The roofing contractor will only remove sections of the existing roof of an area that is approximately 2-4 classrooms.
During the course of the work day, the roofing contractor is allowed only to remove an area of the existing roofing that will be able to sealed at the end of the day to prevent water leaks and water damages, should there be a rain storm after the end of the day.
