Cultural Arts Academy

Renaissance

The Gifted and Talented Education and Fine Arts Departments sponsor the Cultural Arts Academy for middle school gifted and talented and fine arts students. The Academy provides a Renaissance experience in which the students learn art, music, fencing, and drama. The culminating activity is a Renaissance Fair presented to parents and community members.


Word Weavers Academy

The Gifted and Talented Education and the West Texas Writing Project partner to provide the Word Weavers Academy, a young authors’ camp for gifted and talented fourth and fifth graders. The Academy is held at the University of Texas at El Paso. The goal of the Academy is to give gifted young writers the opportunity to compose in a variety of styles, extend their writing gifts, meet other writers and artists, and present their anthologies to the El Paso community.


Connecting Worlds/Mundos Unidos Summer Camp/Demonstration School

Connecting Worlds/Mundos Unidos program students attend a summer camp to study a theme in both English and Spanish. Teachers are invited to participate in GT professional development sessions and to observe classes for gifted and talented and second language acquisition activities.


DREAMS Pre-Med Programs

Dreams Pre-Med Summer Programs

The Gifted and Talented Education Department and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center partner to provide an early awareness medical program for high achieving and gifted and talented students. Students selected from the Austin, Bowie, El Paso, and Jefferson high school feeder elementary and middle schools participate in challenging health and medical learning activities during the month of June.
