Information explaining district's accreditation status, definitions and explanations of each accreditation can be found on the Texas Education Agency website (click on link to be re-directed to web page). Use the A-Z index to look for information on AEIS. Each year a new Glossary is produced for the AEIS, specific to that year. In researching the reports, it is important to refer to the glossary for the year in question. Significant changes in methodology are also addressed in the Frequently Asked Questions page.
Accountability Ratings
In 1993, the Texas Legislature mandated the creation of the Texas public school accountability system to rate school districts and evaluate campuses.

Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS)
AEIS is an annual report from the Texas Education Agency, required by state law, describing the educational performance of the district and of each campus in the district, including accountability, student performance, student and

School Report Card
The Texas Education Agency publishes a School Report Card (SRC) for every campus in the district. The report provides a small subset of the information available in the AEIS reports. Schools are required to provide a copy of their SRC to the parent/guardian of each student.

Gold Performance Acknowledgment (GPA)
The Gold Performance Acknowledgment (GPA) recognizes districts and campuses for high performance on indicators other than those used to determine accountability ratings. These indicators are in statute (Texas Education Code) or determined by the Commissioner of Education.
