Public Information Requests - Form and Guidelines

The Texas Public Information Act gives the public the right to request access to or copies of information maintained by public entities.

Although the act makes most information maintained by public entities available to the public, some exceptions exist. If an exception might apply and the governmental body wishes to withhold the information, the governmental body must, within 10 business days of receiving the public information request, refer the matter to the Office of the Attorney General for a ruling.

For detailed information on the act and access to the Public Information Handbook from the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), please click www.oag.state.tx.us new window to access the OAG Web site.

The public is encouraged to visit this site when contemplating a request for information from the El Paso Independent School District. For more information, please call either (915) 587-5494.
