Community & Govermental Relations VIPS/PIE
Thousands of individuals, businesses, civic organizations and agencies donate their time and resources to EPISD on a regular basis. The district has approximately 4,800 Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) who contribute 800,000 hours annually. EPISD also engages the community through its Partners in Education program. More than 2,330 businesses, organizations and individuals are EPISD Partners in Education. The Partners program is designed to enhance, enrich, support, encourage and offer a variety of expertise to our students.
Since 1972, EPISD's Volunteers in Public Schools program has attracted thousands of volunteers to the schools. Many serve as mentors, playground monitors, crossing guards, help teachers and serve on Parent Teacher Associations. The more than 19,400 volunteers contribute approximately 1.6 million hours to the schools for a value of approximately $15.6 million per year.
Partners in Education
Approximately 2,200 businesses and organizations make up EPISD's Partner's in Education program. Agencies, businesses, individuals, organizations, public/private/higher education and Parent Teacher Organizations have provided our schools with outstanding support. They enhance, enrich, support, encourage and offer a variety of expertise to our schools.
