How Your Company Can Serve In The El Paso ISD
- Establish a Speakers Bureau - This office could be furnished with a list of available speakers and their “specialties”; the times convenient for speakers should be noted. Topics may be scientific, mathematical, literary, or even general interest.
- Provide Judges for Drama, Speech and Creative Writing Events and Presentation of Awards - These very worthwhile projects are jeopardized by a lack of judges to evaluate student work and recognize talents. These contests may be district wide or on each campus, and may require Saturday mornings or evening availability.
- Career Awareness - Involvement with career-focused activities on campus. A discussion or presentation of the requirements and training needed to perform various jobs in your company. Many students graduate from high school, and go on to college majoring in subjects about which they know very little. Perhaps a student “shadow” relationship could be set up; after school or on Saturdays a student spends time with his mentor, observing a normal work atmosphere.
- Role Models - There is a tremendous need for students to be exposed to people who are experiencing success in their professional lives. We wish to accent our human resources in this project, and our children would benefit enormously from contact with successful minority-group members, successful professional men and women to serve as role models in the elementary, junior high and high schools.
REMEMBER… Your “partner” in education has a lot of talents and resources to offer, too! Students are very creative, and can provide artwork, music programs, presentations, etc. Indeed, they would love it! They would be grateful for the chance to display their skills in after-school or weekend program.
