EPISD Board approves $10.8 million compensation package

Employees to get a raise for 2009-2010 school year

June 24, 2009 — EPISD News

The El Paso Independent School District is pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees approved a $10.8 million compensation package for employees for the 2009-2010 school year. This pay increase will help inflationary issues that every household is experiencing.

The compensation package includes TASB recommended pay structures that improve alignment to competitive market values, correct pay inequities, and place positions in pay grades that more accurately reflect the skill, effort, and responsibility required for the job.

All Employees
The approved increases will be effective on the employee’s first day for the 2009-2010 school year. All pay schedules are contingent upon the acceptance of the State of Texas Stabilization Stimulus Funds application being approved by the U.S. Department of Education. In the unlikely event that the U.S. Department of Education does not accept the state’s application, compensation rates would revert to 2008-2009 levels until the District is able to analyze the impact and contingency of state funding levels.

Teachers, Librarians, Student Activity Managers, Counselors, Nurses, and Speech Pathologists Schedules
All employees that received credit for the 2008/2009 school year, will receive at least the step increase indicated on the 2008-2009 salary schedule plus $800 as required by the State of Texas salary requirements. The Teacher Salary Schedule will be adjusted in years 11 through 23 to improve market alignment.

Daily Schedules (including Athletic Trainer, Assistant Principal, and Principal schedules)
All daily employees that received credit for the 2008/2009 school year, will receive a 2% general pay increase of range midpoint who are paid within the recommended pay grade. Additional equity adjustments will be made to those employees whose pay is below midpoint in their current position (Step 10 in current respective pay grade). Employees will receive at least the minimum rate of the appropriate pay grade.

Hourly Schedules
All hourly employees that received credit for the 2008/2009 school year, will receive a 3% general pay increase of range midpoint who are paid within the recommended pay grade. Additional equity adjustments will be made to those employees whose pay is below midpoint in their current position (Step 10 in current respective pay grade). Employees will receive at least the minimum rate of the appropriate pay grade.

Human Resources will place each employee in his/her new pay level based on the approved position placements. A detailed list of position placements will be posted in AdCom, forthcoming.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Administration we thank you for your contributions and dedication to the District.
