District IX Student Council
District IX Student Council is one of 19 Student Council districts that fall under TASC (Texas Association of Student Councils). Each district is divided according to geographic location. Our district encompasses all of the El Paso area (public & private high schools), high schools from surrounding communities, and high schools from Valentine, Sierra Blanca, Marfa, & Presidio. TASC works directly with TASSP (Texas Association of Secondary School Principals).
District IX hosts 2 conventions each school year - 1 in the fall, 1 in the spring. Along with that, we also host a back to school banquet for Superintendents, High School Principals, High School District Officers, High School Student Council Sponsors, and High School Student Council Presidents.
During the school year, these student councils work together on community service projects and also get together for social events. When we travel to the state convention or to summer leadership workshop, we are ONE, representing District IX.
Sponsors meet monthly to coordinate and plan for District Student Council events and projects.
