Colonel Paul N. Garcia
Colonel Paul N. Garcia graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1992 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Infantry. He attended the Infantry Officer's Basic Course and was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas with 2nd BN, 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division from 1993 to 1996. During this time he served as a Bradley Platoon Leader, Scout Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Assistant Battalion Operations Officer. Following the Infantry Officer's Advanced Course, the Army reassigned COL Garcia to United States Forces- Korea where he served as the Operations Officer for the Secretary Combined-Joint Staff, UNC/CFC/USFK.
He was then reassigned to Fort Campbell, KY where he served as the Brigade Assistant S3 with 3rd Brigade (Rakkasans) of the 101st Airborne Division (AASLT), and as the company commander of Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry from 1998-2001. Following company command, he was assigned to Fort Polk, LA where he served as a platoon, company, and battalion level Observer-Controller with the Joint Readiness Training Center from 2001 to 2003.
Following graduation from CGSC in 2004, COL Garcia was reassigned to the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY where he served as the Squadron Executive Officer for 3-71 Cavalry, BN S-3 for 1-32 Infantry, and Division G3, Chief of Operations from 2004-2007. From 2006-2007, he deployed with 1-32 Infantry to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom serving as the BN Operations Officer and CJTF 76, G3 Chief of Operations. From 2007 to 2010 he served as the aide-de-camp to the Commanding General, United States Army Accessions Command (USAAC) and as the Assistant G3, USAAC at Fort Monroe, VA.
Colonel Garcia assumed command of the 4th Squadron, 9th US. Cavalry Regiment as part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas in April of 2010 and deployed the unit to Diyalla Province, Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn from May 2011 to November 2011. Following command, he served as a senior Observer-Coach/Trainer with the Tarantula Team at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin California from 2012-2013. Following completion of the Army War College in 2014, the Army reassigned the Garcia family to Fort Bliss, TX where COL Garcia currently serves as the G3 for the Brigade Modernization Command.
He is married to the former Melinda Molina of McAllen, TX. They have two children, Aaron (15) and Karina (11), both of which attend school in the El Paso Independent School District.
