About Us

  • Stephen F. Austin High School was built in 1929 and opened its doors to students in September 1930.  As El Paso's second oldest high school, Austin is rich in history.  Did you know that the first female Supreme Court Justice is an alumnus? The "A" on Mount Franklin is one of Austin High School's oldest traditions.  In the fall of 1931, Gordon Gunn and John Clary outline and painted the "A" on the mountain.  The "A" is maintained by alumni and volunteers. The Sandra Day O'Connor Criminal Justice/Public Service Academy's instruction is designed to educate students interested in serving the community.  The program is a collaboration between many law enforcement agencies in the community including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Fort Bliss, U.S. Border Patrol, and the El Paso Policy and Fire Departments, and EPISD Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff's Department. The programs of study focus on the career fields of: police, fire fighting, lawyer. Austin High School has also been designated by the State of Texas as a Purple Star Campus for support and commitment to meeting the needs of military-connected students.
