Young Women’s STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy's Focus:
The El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) and New Tech Network (NTN) have partnered to implement this innovative program at the Young Women’s Steam Prep Academy. This is the first single-gender Academy in the District and in the New Tech Network! The Young Women's Steam Prep Academy opened it's doors in August 2017.
With the support of the New Tech Network, the Young Women's Steam Prep Academy provides a STEAM-focused instructional program where students apply their learning to real-world contexts within the framework of Project/Problem-Based Learning (PBL) experiences! Student will also participate extensively in Service Learning opportunities connecting the curriculum to the world around them.
What does STEAM stand for?
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics
New Tech Network's philosophy is based on four principles:
Teaching that Engages- Students participate in Project or Problem Based Learning
Technology that Enables- Every student is provided a laptop and technological tools
Culture that Empowers- The culture is based on Trust, Respect, & Responsibility
Outcomes that Matter- Students are evaluated in the following areas Knowledge & Thinking; Oral & Written Communication; Agency; and Collaboration.
Students will graduate with two high school Endorsements 1) STEM and 2) Arts & Humanities
STEM Choices include:
- Computer Science
- STEM Combo
- Career & Technology Education
Arts & Humanities Choices Includes:
- Social Studies
- Fine Arts
- LOTE (Languages other than English) same or different language
*Students can also participate in specialty programs available at Center for Career & Technical Eductaion (CCTE)! CCTE is located directly behind Young Women's Academy. Students can take their core courses with YWA and complete their program courses (half-days) at CCTE when they reach grades 11 & 12! Click here to see what programs are offered at CCTE.

Transportation provided for students living within the EPISD boundaries. Pick up location will be at students’ home EPISD middle school.
*Parents please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to request transportation for your daughter.
If selected to enroll, students are required to:
- Accept the expectations, challenges, and rigors of the program
- Maintain "good standing" in the areas of academic performance, discipline, and attendance
- Participate in collaborative learning environments
- Engage in service learning projects
- Formalizing a 6-12 Professional Plan that supports student learning and development
