Welcome to Navarrete
Greetings,
My name is Nuri S. Robles and I am honored to be the Principal of Captain Gabriel Navarrete Middle School. The campus is a result of the EPISD 2016 bond project; we opened our doors to the first class of Knights in August of 2022. Our campus boasts cutting-edge educational technology and modern learning spaces, including a fine arts wing and gymnasium.
As a proud graduate of EPISD and parent of EPISD students, I looked to serving my community when I first began my journey in education in 2002 at Jefferson High School as an English teacher. In 2008, I was awarded Teacher of the Year for Jefferson High School by my peers and named a Top 10 EPISD Finalist. I served Jefferson for 13 years as an instructional leader in various roles, including Literacy Coach and Lead Instructional Coach. During this time, I wrote high school English curriculum and served as a common assessment writer for the district before leaving to continue my learning with San Elizario ISD as their first Secondary Instructional Officer for English and Social Studies. During my three years with their Planning and Instruction department, it was my duty to facilitate the instruction for their middle and high school campuses.
I returned home to EPISD to join the Curriculum and Instruction division as the High School English Facilitator. However, I missed daily interactions with students and teachers. Therefore, I answered the challenge of participating in the redesign of what an instructional leader’s role should be as a Small Learning Community (SLC) Administrator at Bowie High School for four years. It was my duty to build programs that would not only create authentic connections for students but also foster a true learning environment for teachers, students, parents, and community members. My role as SLC administrator bridged my love for instruction and my drive to lead the learning on campus with both students and adults.
Our academic programs at Navarrete Middle School support our military, emergent bilingual, Advanced Placement, and Dual Language students. As we continue to expand our high school credit courses, electives, and Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs, we hope to expose our students to lifelong learning opportunities. Our mission is to ensure that our students are prepared to continue their coursework as future Chapin Huskies or Austin Panthers.
I welcome you to join us for our campus events and look forward to supporting our EPISD families. Through collaboration and community, we will build a Knight culture of learning, excellence, and success. Together, we will create a legacy for future Knights to emulate under our Blue and Gold banners.
The day belongs to the Knights!
Sincerely,
Nuri S. Robles
Principal
