Message from the Principal

Dear T-Bird Family,
I am excited to welcome everyone to Coronado High School for the 2022-2023 school year! It promises to be another great year of academic success, excellence in our extracurricular endeavors, and a continued renewal of maintaining a caring and nurturing school experience for all of our students. We have a lot of momentum going into this year after all our success last year. We are going for a total T-Bird Takeover!
There are a few things I want to emphasize for this new year. We are making a committed effort to increase the safety and security of our students and faculty on campus. I am asking for everyone’s cooperation in adhering to enhanced safety measures. There will be limited access into buildings, and all doorways will be monitored. Cameras have been added to provide greater coverage of the school. Campus patrol and our police officer will be constantly patrolling. We have put measures in place to identify potential issues early on, and we are striving to make safety everyone’s priority. Vulnerability checks have also been performed to assess areas of weakness and to provide improvement. All students must also wear their school ID where it can be seen. We are making arrangements to ensure all students have an ID within the first 2 weeks of school. I am also starting a volunteer program, asking for parents and community members to donate their time to help make our campus as safe and secure as possible, yet open and welcoming at the same time.
Attendance is another area of focus in which I am asking for your assistance. It is vital to your student’s success that they attend regularly. Please ensure your student comes daily, however, if they do not feel well, please keep them at home to avoid spreading illness. Students will have one day for every day missed to make up assignments, which must be turned in to the teacher personally. Any absence should be reported to the Attendance office.
Another area of focus is that students come prepared to school daily. This includes their laptop and supplies needed for their classes. The district shall be providing free supplies for all students, but it may be a couple of weeks before the supplies come in. Please make sure they have enough to get them through the first few days. The district will also provide laptops to students who need them. Those come directly from the district, not the campus. Information will be provided to those needing it. Please keep in mind that you are responsible for any damage or loss of the laptops issued.
Dress Code is another area for which I am asking your assistance. Please ensure your student comes dressed appropriately to school. We ask that they wear clothing that is not revealing, not excessively torn, and does not promote inappropriate content. Students out of dress code will be asked to change or have clothes brought to them.
I would like to invite you to please join our wonderful PTSA. They do so much for our students and teachers and is a great way to be on campus. Information can be found on our website on how to join.
As always, please reach out to us if you need assistance. I thank you for supporting our wonderful school and being a part of this wonderful community, and hope to see you soon.
Go T-Birds!
