Kellogg's Mission Tiger and Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation on Thursday visited three EPISD schools to announce a grant of $500,000 to benefit middle-school athletics throughout El Paso. The announcement was made by Tony the Tiger and Pro Football Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson.
Student council members from Franklin and Coronado high schools continued their annual tradition of delivering boxfuls of donated gifts to students in EPISD elementary schools. This year, the Holiday Blessings campaign benefited students at Travis Elementary, who each received clothing, socks and a gift to open on Christmas Day.
Students from Lincoln Middle School got a hands-on lesson on windmills and renewable energy thanks to a program from the Jewish Federation of Greater El Paso, which brought in 70,000 LEGO bricks to help build structures and learn from them.
