Diesel Equipment Technology I includes knowledge of the function and maintenance of diesel systems. Rapid advances in diesel technology have created new career opportunities and demands in the transportation industry. This course provides the knowledge, skills, and technologies required for employment in transportation systems.
Second Year: Auto DSL 2 - HT4P2AY2 or HT4P2DY2 - 13040160 - 2 Credit - Year-Long Course
Diesel Equipment Technology II includes knowledge of the function, diagnosis, and service of diesel equipment systems. Rapid advances in diesel technology have created new career opportunities and demands in the transportation industry. This course provides the advanced knowledge, skills, and technologies required foremployment in transportation systems.
This course offers an opportunity for Dual Credit or Articulated Credit in-conjunction with El Paso Community College (EPCC).
The Dual credit courses are:
Junior Year:
- Preventive Maintenance [DEMR 1329]
- Basic Brake Systems [DEMR 1317]
Senior Year:
- Diesel Engines 1 [DEMR 1306]
- Basic Electrical Systems [DEMR 1305]
Articulated courses allow a non Dual Credit student who earns an '85' or better to claim credit once they enroll at EPCC and file their degree plan in that specific field.
Certifications:
ASE STUDENT CERTIFICATION
ASE Student Certification is the first step in building a career as a service professional in the automotive industry. Marking the completion of career-entry studies in automotive technology, or medium/heavy-duty trucks, these tests can provide the student with their first industry certification through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
There is no work experience requirement; simply pass one or more of the tests. ASE Student Certification is valid for two years and is not renewable.
