First Year: Cosmetology 1-2 - HT3J50Y2W3 - 13025200 - 2 Credit - Year-Long Course
- In Cosmetology I, s tudents coordinate integration of academic, career, and technical kn owledge and skills in this laboratory instructional sequence course designed to provide job- specific training for employment in cosmetology careers. Instruction includes sterilization and sanitation procedures, hair care, nail care, and skin care and meets the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) requirements for licensure upon passing the state examination. Analysis of career opportunities, license requirements, knowledge and skills expectations, and development of workplace skills are included.
Second Year:
Cosmetology 2-1 - HT4J50Y2 - 13025300 - 2 Credit - Year-Long Course
- In Cosmetology II , students will demonstrate proficiency in academic, technical, and practical knowledge and skills. The content is designed to provide the occupational skills required for licensure. Instruction includes advanced training in professional standards/employability skills ; Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) rules and regulations ; use of tools, equipment, technologies and materials ; and practical skills.
CosmManicur 2-1 - HT4J8XY2 - N1302531 - 2 Credit - Year-Long Course
- In CosmManicur 2-1 , students will demonstrate proficiency in academic, technical, and practical knowledge and skills. The content is designed to provide the occupational skills required for licensure. Instruction includes advanced training in professional standards/employability skills ; Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) rules and regulations ; use of tools, equipment, technologies and materials ; and practical skills.
Course Requirements
Students must be 16 years of age or older. Students are responsible for the cost of their uniform, and student permit. Students must have a Social Security card and a current government photo ID.
Certification
A student in this Program of Study may earn an industry-recognized certification.

*Upon completion of the state mandated 600 clock hours, second year students are eligible to take the written portion of the Texas Cosmetology Manicurist Exam. Upon successfully passing the written portion of the exam and the completion of the practical requirements, students are eligible to take the second portion of the exam.
