Elected DEIC members may run for the DEIC facilitator position only if they are willing to relinquish their elected membership and any voting rights should he or she be elected by the DEIC membership as the facilitator. The vacancy will be offered to the runner up representative from the previous election and, if accepted, will finish off the term.

Any employee, other than hourly, not either elected or appointed by the superintendent previously to DEIC, or Community member, not either elected or appointed by the superintendent previously to DEIC, may run for facilitator.

The facilitator position is filled for a period of one year (June - May) with nominations to be made prior to, or at the April DEIC meeting, and voting to be held at the May DEIC meeting. A quorum must be present at the May DEIC meeting to vote.

The facilitator position is elected by plurality (number of votes cast for a candidate who receives more than any other nominee, but not an absolute majority) vote of the DEIC members.
