Mrs. Hanson has been an educator with EPISD for 35 years. She served the District as an elementary and middle school teacher and was a finalist for the EPISD Teacher of the Year in 1991. She has also been an elementary and middle school counselor and served high school students in the EPISD First Chance Program at Austin, Chapin, and Irvin High Schools. She was an elementary assistant principal for eight years before being promoted to principal at Schuster in 2013.
Mrs. Hanson earned a Bachelor of Science Degree with concentrations in reading, learning disabilities, and emotional disturbances from Bemidji State University, Bemidji, MN in 1987. She received a Master of Education Degree in Guidance and Counseling from UTEP in 2000 and a Principal's Certificate from UTEP in 2005.
Mrs. Hanson is married, and her husband has also been an educator in EPISD for 30 years. They have one son and a family dachshund named Max. In her spare time, Mrs. Hanson loves to play the piano and violin. She has often served as an accompanist at her church. She also sings and has been a member of the El Paso Sun City Singers.
Mrs. Hanson believes that education is key to a happy and productive life. It is her goal to help parents and students access quality educational programs to ensure a successful future for each and every student.
