Dual Credit Program

  • Dual Credit courses are offered at all EPISD high schools for juniors and seniors in core academic and career and technology areas. The Assistant Principal for Guidance and Instruction at each school is the contact for information and for the registration for dual credit courses. In order to see which dual credit class(es) is available at your school, you can ask the school counselor or speak with the Assistant Principal for Guidance and Instruction. Also, check the chart listed under "Important Information" on the side box. This chart entitled Academic Dual Credit Summary lists specific information on which academic core courses are currently offered in the dual credit program."

In order to be enrolled in a dual credit course, the student must be eligible for college credit-bearing courses based on PLAN, PSAT, ACT, SAT, or TAKS scores. Or, a student can take the college placement test, the ACCUPLACER, and make the required score for that particular course. Once enrolled, the student will earn high school credit for HS graduation, and college course credit which will be reflected on an official college transcript. Each dual credit course can be counted as an indicator on the Distinguished Achievement Program graduation plan if the final semester grade is no lower than 80%.
