Irvin High School opened it doors in 1959. The patriotic colors of red, white, and blue and the rocket mascot were chosen because of Irvin’s close affiliation with the military. Many students of that time planned on working for either NASA or White Sands Missile Range.
As we look back in history, we realize that todays innovations are not that much different from the innovations of the 60’s. In the 60’s, we were in a global race to be the first country to put a man on the moon. Today we are in global race in technological advancement. Some of the groundbreaking pathways that Irvin’s STEM academy has are as follows; Cyber Security, Computer maintenance, Robotics, Green Engineering, Architecture, Graphic Design, Electric Engineering, Biotechnology.
