Dear Cougar Family:
These are the latest updates that we have as of today concerning graduation:
The latest Stay at Home order and how it affects graduation is still fluid. We are planning to have an outdoor ceremony sometime in June but the official date has not yet been set. However, this plan could change depending on city and CDC guidelines, which could result in a virtual graduation-if there is no other choices presented.
The best-case scenario is to utilize our stadiums or an alternative outdoor venue approved by the city for in-person graduations following all social distancing, PPE and parking guidelines.
2 graduations per day (am/pm) to avoid the hottest times of the day.
2 guests per graduate. This is in line with CDC guidelines. As Franklin has a very large graduating class, 655 students, 2 guests per graduate maxes the 25% capacity marker. Our stadium is in consideration for hosting graduation at this time. The Sun Bowl will not be considered because of construction as well. Other city venues are currently being discussed by EPISD and city leaders, which could be utilized.
All graduates and guests will be required to wear PPE and have their temperatures taken upon entrance to the venue. No exceptions.
Seating on the field and in the stands will be 6 ft. apart, and follow all social distancing guidelines.
Dates on graduation ceremonies will follow based on the guidelines the city puts forward, and may continue to change subject to situational analysis by city government.
These are the latest updates we have at this point. Again, keep in mind; we are subject to the guidelines and stipulations of the city. I am hopeful that we can have an outdoor ceremony.
I will keep you posted as I receive more information. Thank you for your continued patience and support during these uncertain times.
My best to our amazing Class of 2020! Congratulations!
