How do I sign up my child for Credit Recovery?
If you would like to sign up your child for a credit recovery program, contact your child's Counselor or Assistant Principal!
FHS Main Campus = (915) 236-2200
FHS Magnet Campus = (915) 236-2400
Why does my child need Credit Recovery?
If your child failed the FALL semester with a 59 or below, this grade can not credit average with the SPRING semester. Credits that are NOT earned may need to be recovered prior to graduation.
What is a "credit"?
Each semester class your child takes and passes with a 70+ is worth 0.5 credits.
Ex: Earning 1.0 Credit for a Class
Fall Semester English = 0.5 credits
Spring Semester English = 0.5 credits
End of the School Year = Your child earned 1.0 credit for their English Class
What does "credit averaging" mean?
A student's FALL, SPRING, & if needed, SUMMER class, within the same year must average out to a 70+ to earn the 1.0 credit for the year.
Ex: Credit Averaging
Fall Semester English Grade = 62
Spring Semester English Grade = 78
Now we find the average of the 2 grades
62 + 78 = 140
140 divided by 2 = 70
End of the School Year Grade = 70
A 70 is a passing grade, so your child DOES earn credit!
Ex: NOT ABLE to Credit Average
If a semester grade is a 59 or below, credit averaging is NOT an option.
Dual Credit semester classes are not able to credit average.
