What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) focuses on improving a school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. It is a proactive approach of prevention and response to classroom and school discipline issues. The emphasis is on developing and maintaining a safe environment where teachers can teach and students can learn.
Sunrise Mountain’s school-wide behavioral expectations center around three core values:
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Be Safe
Consistency
Our students learn and practice the rules for each expectation as they pertain to all the different common areas of our school.
At Sunrise Mountain Elementary, the rules are visible in common areas such as the cafeteria, bathrooms, hallways, classrooms, computer labs, science lab, and playground.
