(EL PASO HIGH SCHOOL – June 9, 2023) – El Paso High School’s Class of 2023 closed the first day of El Paso ISD’s graduation season Friday at R.R. Jones Stadium with the historic columns of the Lady on the Hill as a stunning backdrop.

A total of 354 seniors graduated, amassing more than $11 million in scholarship awards this year. The class of 2023 is led by valedictorian Caia Marcee, who’s heading to Trinity University this fall, and salutatorian Santiago Shurtz Gonzalez, a class of 2027 Yalie.

Marcee implored her fellow students to continue to pay homage to the lessons learned throughout the previous four years at El Paso High School by approaching the future with a thirst for learning.

“Education is a gift not everyone receives,” Marcee said. “It holds immense power and the ability to change lives, use this gift wisely and never cease to learn.”

Other notable graduates include Andrea Velazquez, who received a U.S. Naval Academy appointment; QuestBridge Scholars Laura Elnairab and Natalie Diaz, who will received full-ride scholarships to the University of Chicago and Princeton University, respectfully. Ridley Dean earned a UTEP Terry Scholarship.
