Bobby Stives

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT — June 26, 2025) — El Paso ISD is proud to announce that Bobby Stives, current principal of Irvin High School, will also assume leadership of Transmountain Early College High School (TMECHS). In his expanded role, Stives will serve as principal of both campuses beginning in the 2025–26 school year.

A proud El Paso ISD graduate and a product of the Northeast community, Stives brings more than two decades of experience and a deep-rooted passion for education to this dual appointment. His strong leadership at Irvin High School, paired with his student-centered approach and extensive background in secondary education, makes him well-positioned to support both campuses and their unique cultures of academic excellence.

“Irvin gave me my foundation, and I’ve always believed in giving back to the community that raised me,” Stives said. “Now, having the opportunity to also lead Transmountain Early College High School, a campus known for its rigorous academics and college-readiness focus, is an incredible honor.”

A 1994 graduate of Irvin High School, Stives began his career in education as a substitute teacher before earning his alternative certification and returning to teach business classes at his alma mater. Since then, he has served as assistant principal at Austin, Andress, and Coronado high schools before coming full circle in 2023 as Irvin’s principal.

As he prepares to step into his new role at TMECHS, Stives is eager to build relationships and foster a sense of family at both campuses.
