Donation Banks
Catastrophic Sick Leave Bank (CSLB)
Catastrophic Sick Leave Bank (CSLB) enrollment takes place from September 1 – October 1 each year in order to provide employees the opportunity to donate 2 days to the bank and become a member of the bank.
The CSLB membership will allow EPISD employees to apply for 30 days of leave with a maximum of 60 days (two requests) per 12-month period, if they are experiencing a Catastrophic event that has caused them to exhaust all earned leave time.
In order to request Catastrophic Sick Leave Bank days, you will need to fill out the CSLB Request Form which can be found in the Link Section of this page. Once completed, the form should be emailed to Marisela Rios at mrios@episd.org
Catastrophic Definition
A catastrophic illness or injury is a severe condition or combination of conditions affecting the mental or physical health of the employee or a member of the employee's immediate family that requires the services of a licensed practitioner for a prolonged period of time and that forces the employee to exhaust all leave time earned by that employee and to lose compensation from the District. Such conditions typically require prolonged hospitalization or recovery or are expected to result in disability or death. Complications resulting from a pregnancy, not a normal delivery, can be considered a catastrophic event.
Any leave days given to a contributor shall be coordinated with any collateral benefits being received by the contributor, so that the sum of the amount of collateral benefits and the amount of the sick leave benefits received does not exceed pre-illness or pre-injury rate of pay.
Any questions can be directed to Marisela Rios at 230-2062 or mrios@episd.org.
