International Baccalaureate (IB)
As the governing body for International Baccalaureate campuses, EPISD is proud to support the Diploma Programme at Andress and Coronado and the Middle Years Programme at Haskins, Murphree, and Richardson.
These programs are open to all EPISD middle and high school students. The Middle Years Programme is offered schoolwide. Students interested in the Diploma Programme should contact the IB Program Coordinator at each high school for academic requirements.
Parents are encouraged to review the curriculum for each program. Please contact the IB Program Coordinator or Head of School at each campus for more information.
IB Middle Years Programme

Overview
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) emphasizes intellectual challenge. It encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, preparing them for success in further studies and in life. The MYP aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning.
Benefits of the MYP Programme
The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

DP Programme Model & Curriculum
IB Preparation and IB Diploma Programme

Overview
The programme aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge—students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.
Benefits of the IBP and IB Diploma Programmes (DP)
Through the DP, schools are able to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge who will flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically. Students study at least two languages and excel in traditional academic subjects, including exploring the nature of knowledge through the programme’s unique theory of knowledge course.
Higher GPA points are awarded in Tier I advanced courses to reflect the rigor of the curriculum. For example, a "100" in an IB course equals 5.0 rather than 4.0 in a regular class. A "100" in an IBP course equals 4.5 rather than 4.0 in a regular class. See Local Policy EIC for the letter grade conversion chart.
