Our School
San Jacinto Adult Learning Center was built in 1905, designed by Edward Kneezell, and is the oldest school building in El Paso still in use. When this school was built, it was literally at the edge of the city on land sold by Joseph Magoffin to the City School Board. The school closed down as an elementary school in 1976, housing those who lived east of downtown. The red brick building with its wooden floors, high ceilings and steam heaters is an excellent example of the architecture of its era. The school has thirteen available classrooms, three computer labs, and its offices are located on the second floor. The lower floor houses a warehouse and a student lunchroom without a kitchen.
