The El Paso Independent School District has a uniform system of public school budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting that is used throughout the state as required by law. The commissioner of education develops and administers the requirements relating to budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, and auditing for Texas public schools in the Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG). The FASRG describes the rules of financial accounting for school districts, charter schools, and education service centers. The FASRG is adopted by 19 Texas Administrative Code §109.41. Legal Notice Regarding Student Information
The District is involved in a lawsuit that may cause it to provide to the plaintiff or the Court, for use in the lawsuit, educational records, including personally identifiable student information, that would otherwise be protected from disclosure by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. The lawsuit is styled Familias Unidas Por La Education, Plaintiff, v. El Paso Independent School District, Defendant, and numbered 3:20-cv-00170-DB. The lawsuit is pending in the United States District Court, Western District of Texas, El Paso Division. Parents or students may seek protective action from the Court if appropriate regarding these disclosures.
