Meet Tom Lea's Military Family Liaison
My name is Carolina Alarcón, and I am currently serving as the Military Family Liaison at Tom Lea Elementary, a role I’ve held since September 2023. My journey with EPISD began in January 2012 at Edgar Park Elementary, where I initially supported military-connected families. After a transition to Special Education in 2016, I returned to my original position, driven by my commitment to supporting military families.
As the wife of a retired Army service member and a mother of two, I deeply understand the challenges faced by military families. Born and raised in El Paso, I take great pride in our community’s diversity and work to ensure military-connected families feel welcomed and supported.
In my role, I connect military families to resources both within the school and the broader military community, serving as a liaison to help with their smooth transition into both the school environment and the community. I collaborate with our Military Partners in Education (PIE) to foster a strong partnership and ensure each student and family feels supported and valued.
Throughout my career, I’ve been dedicated to advocating for military families, having served as the FRG President at USASMA (Class 55) and earned the Ft. Bliss Volunteer of the Year award. I’ve also volunteered with the USO, supporting our troops and their families.
I’m eager to work with new families, encourage their involvement on campus, and ensure they receive the support they need. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns—I’m here to help!
