School Culture

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Young Women's Steam Research & Preparatory Academy! We're excited to launch the first ever single-gender campus in the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) and first single-gender New Tech Network Academy in the nation.

As a New Tech Network Academy our curriculum is based on Project/Problem-Based Learning instructional approaches that are grounded in the state standards, connecting our students to their community!  Our culture is based on Trust, Respect, & Responsibility, with an extensive emphasis on core Student Learning Outcomes which include: Agency, Knowledge & Thinking, Oral Communication, Written Communication, and Collaboration.

Our focus is on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) and Service! Our academic and extracurricular programs provide our students access to STEAM careers, mentors, and community partnerships.

We look forward to making history with you and invite you to join us during school-wide and classroom activities.

Our doors are always open to meet with parents to discuss how we can better serve you and your daughter's needs.

Sincerely,

Dr. Cynthia Ontiveros

Our School

The El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) and New Tech Network (NTN) have become partners to implement this innovative program at the Young Women’s School. The foundation of NTN is to engage students, expose them to innovation and design IN STEAM-focused instruction, and instill learning that models real-world contexts through Project-Based Learning (PBL), complimenting the focal points of the Young Women’s School:

STEAM Students will explore integrated courses that connect Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics leveraged through the Arts; AND
