Social Emotional Learning

At Young Women's STEAM Research and Preparatory Academy, we are devoted not only to our student's academic success, but also their social and  emotional well-being.  Our school is part of EPISD's Social Emotional Learning (SEL) initiative.  As part of the second cohort, we have implemented SEL throughout our campus and curriculum. Teachers have been trained by our SEL team on activities and practices that promote social emotional learning.  We have also implemented a plan to make parents at home partners in  SEL.

What is Social Emotional Learning?

Social Emotional Learning consists of 5 competencies.  Each focuses on a specific aspect important to student success in SEL.  These are implemented not only in the classroom, but in the school as a whole, and with the community around us.
