The Bowie Cave is a new business venture from students at Bowie High. The student-operated store sells shirts, hoodies, mugs and other merch with the Bowie brand.

Irvin broadcasting wins national Best in Show award
An El Paso Strong package produced by Irvin's Rocket Vision broadcasting program won the Best in Show Award from the National Scholastic Press Association last month. The award places the program among the best in the country.

Moody's, a major investor ratings service in the U.S., gave EPISD a favorable credit rating of Aa2 based on a diverse and growing economy, and consistently healthy financial metrics. The company said EPISD's outlook is stable.

Rainbow lanyards help LGBTQ students identify EPISD Allies
In an effort to provide a safe learning environment for all students, EPISD's Counseling and Advising Department has begun distributing rainbow lanyards aimed at helping LGBTQ students in District identify educators and administrators who can help them with issues like harassment and bullying. The EPISD Ally lanyards are a symbol of diversity that has become a standard in the District.

Tony the Tiger, LaDainian Tomlinson announce grant for middle-school athletics
Kellogg's Mission Tiger and Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation on Thursday visited three EPISD schools to announce a grant of $500,000 to benefit middle-school athletics throughout El Paso. The announcement was made by Tony the Tiger and Pro Football Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson.

Franklin, Coronado students deliver holiday blessings to Travis
Student council members from Franklin and Coronado high schools continued their annual tradition of delivering boxfuls of donated gifts to students in EPISD elementary schools. This year, the Holiday Blessings campaign benefited students at Travis Elementary, who each received clothing, socks and a gift to open on Christmas Day.

LEGO Power: Lincoln uses toy bricks to learn about renewable energy

Rebote Rumble: Tournament is first among schools in EPISD
The Tag Team Rebote Rumble brought together teams from Jefferson, Chapin and Bowie high schools for a first-of-its-kind rebote tournament in EPISD. The sport, also known as wallball in English, is credited with increasing attendance and decreasing discipline referrals at the schools.

Great Khalid Foundation surprises students at Whitaker with gifts
The Great Khalid Foundation, an organization formed by El Paso music superstar Khalid, delivered more than 400 gifts to the students at Whitaker Elementary School last week. The surprise visit delighted the students and gave them what will likely be the first of many gifts this holiday season.

Pets in Art: Students find inspiration in animals for new exhibit
"Pets: Animals in Art" is a new student art exhibit at EPISD's ArtSpace that uses our furry, feathered and scaly friends as inspiration. The K-12 exhibit also helped raise funds for the Animal Rescue League of El Paso.

Richardson Middle students honor Holocaust victims through butterfly-shaped art
Pre-AP Richardson students will participate in the Holocaust Museum Houston's Butterfly Project, which gathers butterfly-shaped art from throughout the world to help spread awareness of the Jewish Holocaust and prevent similar genocides from happening again.
