Message from Interim Superintendent Vince Sheffield regarding the face mask mandate
In accordance with Texas Governor Greg Abbot’s executive order issued on May 18, 2021, El Paso ISD no longer will require students, employees or visitors to wear face masks, shields or other coverings after June 4, 2021. At that time, anyone who wishes to continue the practice of wearing such items is free to do so.

Maurice Grenier returned to Rivera this week to return a book he took from the library more than 15 years ago. The book sparked a lifelong love of reading that led him to start his own home library.

P-EBT application process to open June 2
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission has received approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a second round of federal Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) food benefits for families with children who have temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals due to COVID-19 during the 2020-2021 school year. Applications for the program open June 2.

Richardson IB students tie dye face masks for community organizations
Members of Richardson Middle's International Baccalaureate program this week used their art skills to benefit community centers in need of face masks. The students tie-dyed 600 white masks to give their users a little flair as they wear them to stay protected.

Middle-school student musicians compete in person, virtually
Nearly 1,000 middle-school student musicians participated in this year's EPISD Solo & Ensemble Competition either safely in person or via Zoom or pre-recorded video. The competition allows students to grow as musicians.
