Construction on modernization of Jefferson/Silva begins
Work on the $32-million modernization of Jefferson/Silva High School officially began on Tuesday after an exciting groundbreaking ceremony. The Bond 2016 project will include the construction of a new three-story building that will connect Jefferson and Silva in a 21st century learning facility.

TFCU launches High School Spirit Debit Cards
TFCU account holders can now show off their EPISD high-school spirit and help raise funds for their favorite campus. The credit union on Tuesday launched its High School Spirit Debit Cards program that gives each EPISD high school its own card design and gives them a bi-annual donation depending on usage.

JROTC cadets from two EPISD high schools were the only ones from El Paso to participate in this weekend’s U.S. Army Ten-Miler, one of the largest military runs in the world. Cadets from El Paso High and Austin traveled to Washington to run the race. HOOAH!

EPISD Superintendent Juan E. Cabrera today announced the appointment of principals at two district elementary schools. Christina Chapa is the new principal at Paul C. Moreno Elementary School and Michelle Corral is the new principal at Clardy Elementary School.

Irvin student wins 2020 Census writing contest
Jimena Esqueda, a student at Irvin High School, won the 2020 Census Spoken Word Poetry Contest and read her poem during the opening ceremonies of the U.S. Census office in El Paso this week. Her work focused on the importance of having an accurate count on a community like El Paso. Congratulations!
