El Paso ISD alumni nominated to be part of El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame 2024 Class

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – April 4, 2024) — Two members of the El Paso ISD community will have their names indelibly etched in history after being named as nominees to enter the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

Patsy Norman Brunson, a legendary track and cross-country runner from El Paso High School, and Irvin High School Principal Bobby Stives, the winner of several bowling championships, were both announced as among this year’s entries.

Brunson won six Texas state titles while running cross country at El Paso High School. She was trained by the legendary Danny McKillip who coached in El Paso for more than 40 years.

Stives is the current principal at Irvin High School. Concurrently with his time as a veteran educator, Stives bowled at several city, state and national tournaments, winning several championships along the way. Stives still bowls to this day and serves as a bowling administrator.

The 2024 El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame banquet will take place Wednesday, June 26, at the El Paso Community College Administrative Services Center located at 9050 Viscount Blvd.
