Dr. Jack Loveridge sworn in as El Paso ISD Board of Trustees District 3 representative

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – April 17, 2024) — The El Paso ISD Board of Trustees swore in Dr. Jack Loveridge as the new District 3 representative Tuesday, April 16.

Loveridge brings a wealth of educational experience to his new role. A native of El Paso, he graduated from Burges High School in 2003 before earning his bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University in 2007. He furthered his academic journey with a master's degree in Development Studies from Oxford University in 2009.

Following his studies at Oxford, Loveridge delved into K-12 education policy analysis in Oakland, California, before pursuing a doctorate in history at the University of Texas at Austin with his dissertation research supported by a Fulbright fellowship to India. His academic pursuits were complemented by teaching roles at Cooper Union, UT Austin and post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard University and Yale University.

“Dr. Loveridge’s breadth of knowledge and dedication to education position him as a driving force for our district to address 21st century topics such as artificial intelligence and the prudent application of technology in the classroom,” said El Paso ISD Board President Israel Irrobali. “His ties to our community run deep. His father established a legacy of educational service by serving as a paraprofessional at a variety of campuses including Austin High School, the high school at the heart of the district Loveridge now represents."

Presently, Loveridge serves as the CEO and co-founder of Panocolum, an El Paso-based software technology startup focused on digitally preserving historical narratives and family memories — a pursuit close to his heart.

Following unanimous approval by the board on April 11, Loveridge's appointment to the District 3 position marks a culmination of interviews and a candidate forum held on April 2 at Austin High School.

Among the schools under Loveridge's purview as District 3 representative are Bliss Elementary School, Coach Wally Hartley PK-8, Coldwell Elementary School, Austin High School, and the College, Career and Technology Academy.

Loveridge will have to run in the next school board election in May 2025 to keep his seat.
