(El Paso Independent School District – June 27, 2022) — The Board of Trustees on June 23 honored Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare as the Partner of the Month for its contribution to the EPISD Education Foundation and for funding a digital mental health course for middle and high schools.

Del Sol Medical Center CEO Art Garza accepted the award on behalf of the organization, which has been funding the Mental Health Basics training course through EVERFI. The digital programming helps to lessen the stigma and improve the overall mental health of students.

“Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare is dedicated to the health and wellness of El Pasoans, and that commitment is further demonstrated by our partnership with the EVERFI program,” Garza said. “This program has helped thousands of students across the country maintain and promote their mental health, and we know it’ll be a valuable tool for students here.”

Through Las Palmas Del Sol’s partnership with EVERFI, the healthcare organization also contributed $10,000 to the EPISD Education Foundation to provide scholarships for the Class of 2022.

“These students are some of the future leaders of El Paso, and we’re proud to provide a grant to El Paso ISD to help students succeed and thrive in the classroom,” said Don Karl, Las Palmas Medical Center CEO. “The grant will provide much-needed and deserved relief for parents and students as they take the next step in their academic careers. It is one way for us to say thank you to El Paso ISD teachers and administrators for their tireless dedication to education.”

EPISD Education Foundation Board president Russell Wiggs joined with Garza for the Partner of the Month recognition to thank Las Palmas Del Sol for their contribution to the scholarship fund.

“We are grateful for our partnership with Las Palmas Del Sol,” Wiggs said. “Their contribution to our scholarship fund makes a difference to 10 deserving seniors who will be attending college this fall.”
