El Paso ISD announces three new appointments

(El Paso Independent School District – Aug. 8, 2022) – El Paso ISD announced the appointment of directors to lead the district’s efforts in STEM, Literacy, and Career and Technology Education.

The new hires are:

• Suzanna Gutierrez, the new director of STEM, has been an assistant principal in both the Clint and San Elizario independent school districts. She also had been a math and science instructional leader and has taught elementary school. She earned a bachelors of science degree in social psychology from Park University, a master of educational administration from Lamar University and a master of education specialist in K-12 leadership from Grand Canyon University.

• Fernando Marquez, the new director of Career and Technical Education, served as the director of career programs for Career and Technical Education in YISD for seven years prior to joining EPISD. He taught career and technical education at Del Valle High and also has been a CTE Adjunct Professor at El Paso Community College since 2016. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in education and leadership foundations both from UTEP.

• Phillip Hash, the new director of Literacy, returns to El Paso ISD after serving as an assistant principal at Del Valle High School in the Ysleta Independent School District. Hash’s experience includes high school English facilitator, intervention coach, teacher and team leader. He graduated from UTEP with both a bachelor of arts degree in communications and a master of business administration in management.
