(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- Aug. 15, 2022) – El Paso ISD received a Texas Education Agency (TEA) accountability grade of 'B' or 87 for the 2021-22 school year, TEA announced today. Of El Paso ISD’s 76 campuses, 26 are A-rated campuses and 39 are rated a B. Accountability data also shows 43 campuses increased their ratings, and 23 schools improved by at least one letter grade.

Campuses with a 95 or better rating are Cielo Vista, Hughey, Lamar, Lundy, Milam, Polk and Tippin elementary schools; and Silva Health Magnet and Transmountain Early College High School.

Four schools earned every available distinction designation: Wiggs Middle School, El Paso High School, Silva Health Magnet and Transmountain Early College High School. In addition, fifty-one schools received at least one distinction.

“We are proud of the work we’ve done this year,” said Superintendent of Schools Diana Sayavedra. “As we work towards improvement, our primary focus will be Tier I instruction, which includes redesigning our PreK-12 core curricula. This will provide stronger, more effective teaching for every student, every day because it starts with us."

Sayavedra thanked EPISD teachers and staff who work hard every day to ensure students are college-, career- and life-ready.

Texas provides annual academic accountability ratings to its public-school districts, charters, and schools. They are based largely on state standardized test performance and graduation rates.
