Tom Lea principal named Region 19 president of TEPSA
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT –Aug. 22, 2022) – Michelle Casillas, principal at Tom Lea Elementary School, was named Region 19 president of the Texas Elementary Principals & Supervisors Association for 2022-23. Casillas, who has been principal at Tom Lea for five years, will meet locally with the board to raise awareness of public education and support students’ success initiatives across the region.
“I’m proud to serve as president of TEPSA and look forward to collaborating with other principals throughout our region to advocate for public education,” Casillas said.
She is among the 20 regional presidents serving on the TEPSA board of directors who will lead the association’s strategic direction and maintain a positive impact on legislators, policymakers, and other stakeholders to ensure a quality PK-8 education for all Texas students.
“TEPSA’s Board of Directors advance our association’s mission and build leadership capacity to ensure Texas PK-8 students and teachers are successful,” said Harley Eckhart, TEPSA executive director.
TEPSA, whose hallmark is educational leaders learning with and from each other, has served Texas school leaders since 1917 and currently represents more than 5,900 school administrators who direct the activities of 3 million PreK-8 school children.
