The Andress High School 2016 Bond Project scope of work includes a new performing arts center, a new field house, new courtyard, building renovations, new hydronic loop piping and select improvements to the current HVAC system.
We anticipate construction will begin on the Andress campus in the summer of 2018 and will conclude by summer of 2021.
The project budget for Andress is $31,742,122, and the construction budget is $23,300,000. A more detailed budget breakdown is available on the EPISD Bond website.
We continue to encounter issues with regulations due to Andress’ location in the FEMA 100-year floodplain. Those requirements would force EPISD to raise buildings to the Base Flood Elevation, or BFE, in order to receive building permits. Currently the buildings stand three feet below the BFE, and any major construction project there would require substantial work and money. FEMA also requires any renovations done to buildings not at the BFE level not to exceed 50 percent of the appraised value of an individual building, at the risk of having to elevate the building to meet federal floodplain standards. EPISD and Jacobs continue to work diligently to ensure that we cooperate with FEMA regulations throughout this process in order to ensure a successful completion of Bond 2016 projects at Andress.
