EPISD Board swears in two members
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- May 15, 2019) — Two members of the EPISD Board of Trustees on Tuesday were sworn into their positions and have now begun to serve the communities that elected them during the May 4 elections.
District Judge Francisco X. Dominguez administered the oath for District 2 Trustee Al Velarde and District 7 Trustee Daniel E. Call. Velarde earned a second four-year term on the Board while Call is serving his first term.
The EPISD Board of Trustees is charged with setting District policy, adopting an annual budgeting and overseeing the Superintendent of Schools on behalf of the taxpayers of the District.
Two vacant seats remain on the EPISD Board of Trustees following the results of the May 4 election. The District 3 and District 6 positions will be decided in a runoff election on June 15 since no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote during the first round of voting.
