EPISD JROTC cadets enjoy Camaraderie Day on post
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- March 23, 2021) — The pandemic could not stop the annual tradition of Camaraderie Day, the field day with fun activities designed to bring members of JROTC programs from all over the District together.
To abide by health guidelines, however, the event was pared down to about 50 students – down from the more than 200 that normally take part. The students also went through health screenings to make sure everyone was good to participate.
This year, cadets from Bowie, Chapin, Burges, Coronado and Franklin participated in the event at Biggs Park on Fort Bliss right before the start of spring break.
“These cadets have done well the whole school year through some very difficult times,” said Col. Leonard Wells, EPISD’s JROTC facilitator. “This is our way of rewarding their commitment to school, to military education and to their future.”
The event was held outdoors and included games like tug-o-war, dizzy bat, kick ball and rally races.
