Five EPISD teachers selected finalists in Casa Nissan car giveaway contest

(BURGES HIGH SCHOOL – May 5, 2022) – In a surprise pep-rally style announcement today, five El Paso ISD teachers learned they are in the running for a 2022 Nissan Kicks courtesy of Casa Nissan.

EPISD high school mascots and cheerleaders and the Burges drumline kicked off the celebration as the teachers emerged from the school’s black box theater to the surprise announcement. Casa Nissan selected the five finalists from a pool of more than 80 teacher nominees – one from every El Paso ISD campus – who were selected by their peers.

“Teachers are one of the most essential components of our community and what a better way to recognize one of them than with a new Nissan Kicks," said Casa general manager Ronnie Lowenfield. "Reading through each of the nominees I see just how much our teachers give of themselves, and many really need a car. Casa Nissan and the Casa Auto Group are committed to giving back to our community, so partnering with El Paso ISD just made sense.”

El Paso ISD Superintendent Diana Sayavedra said having community partners like Casa Nissan are essential in meeting the educational goals the community has set for itself.

“I am grateful that Casa Nissan approached the District with this opportunity to celebrate teachers for the tremendous impact they have on our city,” Sayavedra said. “Honoring a deserving teaching is a great way to show that Casa Nissan is an active partner in the mission to provide high-quality instructions to the students of our community.”
