El Paso ISD announces four new appointments
(El Paso Independent School District – Aug. 26, 2022) – El Paso ISD this week announced the appointment of the new Andress High School principal, Crockett Elementary School principal, director of budget and director of community engagement.
The new hires are:
• Luis Ruben Alarcon, the new principal of Andress High School, is a former assistant principal at Bel Air and Parkland high schools. He was a coach and teacher at Riverside High school and served as an associate vice president for the National Hispanic Institute and as an admissions counselor at UTEP. He has a bachelor of arts degree in political science and a master of public administration from UTEP, and a master’s degree in educational administration and leadership from Sul Ross State University.
• Jennifer Mata, assistant principal at Crockett Elementary School, was promoted to the principal. She began her career with El Paso ISD as a teacher Hillside Elementary School and also has served as a special education inclusion teacher, literacy coach and assistant principal at Newman Elementary. She has a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies and a master's degree in educational administration and leadership from UTEP.
• Gloria De Leon, the new director of Budget, was promoted from assistant director of budget. She started her career with El Paso ISD in 2018 as a budget analyst. De Leon also has served as an internal auditor at both Canutillo ISD and the El Paso Courthouse. She has a bachelor of business administration in accounting from UTEP and is currently completing a master of business administration degree from the University of Texas Permian Basin.\
• Pablo Villa, the new director of Community Engagement, comes to El Paso ISD from UTEP where he served as assistant director for communications. Prior to joining UTEP, Villa was a reporter and production editor for the El Paso Times. He also was a writer, editor and photographer for the NCO Journal at Fort Bliss. He has a bachelor of arts in media advertising and communications from UTEP and a master of arts degree in communications from Arizona State University.
