EPISD hockey players shave heads to raise funds for cancer research
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- March 9, 2020) — Several young EPISD hockey players sacrificed their flowing locks to benefit childhood cancer research. Students who participate in the El Paso Hockey Association’s Youth Hockey Program stood besides their big counterpart, the El Paso Rhinos, to take part in the annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation head shaving fundraiser.
Participants agree to have their heads shaved in exchange for donations toward childhood cancer research. In total, this year’s event raised nearly $18,000.
Among the EPISD students who participated were Hughey Elementary’s Nikolas Lopez, Ross Middle School’s Joseph Gross, Brown Middle’s Eli Carrasco and Coronado High’s Grady Locke.
For players like Carrasco and Locke, the St. Baldrick’s event has become an annual tradition among El Paso’s hockey community.
Bald looks great on you, guys!
