El Paso ISD appoints new principals at Tom Lea and Moreno elementary schools

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – March 22, 2023) – El Paso ISD recently named Elizabeth Sandoval as principal of Tom Lea Elementary School and Angelic Lopez as principal at Moreno Elementary School.  

Sandoval, former assistant principal at Tinajero PK-8 School, was promoted to principal of Tom Lea Elementary School. She also served as an assistant principal at the former Armendariz Middle School and as a classroom teacher at Zach White Elementary School. She worked in Laredo ISD as a director of instructional technology, technology specialist trainer and classroom teacher before her tenure in El Paso ISD. She graduated from Texas A&M International University with a bachelor of business administration in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration.  

Lopez, previously an assistant principal at Moreno, was promoted to the principal position. She also had served as an assistant principal at Clardy and Bond elementary schools. Before becoming an assistant principal, Lopez was an active learning leader in reading and math and an elementary school teacher. She graduated from UTEP with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies in general education EC-6 and a master’s degree in educational administration with a principal certificate.
