CCTA, Andress and Franklin kick off EPISD graduation season
Commencement exercises for the El Paso Independent School District kicked off on Wednesday with three ceremonies at the Don Haskins Center of the University of Texas at El Paso.
The College, Career and Technology Academy graduated 65 students who were able to complete their education thanks to the program.
The countywide alternative school of choice for students received three college scholarships including an EPISD Education Foundation Scholarship.
This year’s valedictorian is Jacqueline Payan with the salutatorian Summer Forrest.
Graduations continued in the afternoon with Andress High School’s 345 seniors. The eagles received $8.7 million in scholars this year.
Both valedictorian Michael James and salutatorian Alexis Castañon will be attending UTEP in the fall.
Franklin High School’s class of 2017 walked the stage in the evening. More than 578 students graduated on Wednesday and collectively they earned more than $15 million in scholarships and grants.
Emily O’Rourke earned the valedictorian spot as well as All Franklin Girl honors. Salutatorian is Jaqueline Rojas.
Graduations continue on Thursday with commencements exercises for Irvin, Chapin and Austin high schools.
